COLD WEATHER CAMPING IS FUN,
 IF YOU ARE PREPARED!

Wear:

  • 2 pairs of wool socks
  • Hat
  • Mittens
  • Scarf or neck muff
  • Warm, waterproof boots rated -20 or colder– large enough to fit over 2 pairs of socks! Look for the wool content, on the label
  • Water repellent pants
  • Thermal underwear
  • Layer all your clothes

Bring:

  • Extra wool socks – Moreno wool does not itch, the more wool content the better
  • Extra mittens
  • Extra hat
  • Hand/toe warmers (buy them at Sports Authority, CVS, Walmart)
  • Extra Thermal underwear

  • Space blanket to put under your sleeping bag

  • Foam or Thermarest ground/bed pad (the Troop has some to lend)
  • Cold Weather sleeping bag (rated 0° or colder)

Sleeping bags can be rented from REI in Norwalk or EMS in Stamford/Fairfield at a reasonable cost

Be prepared!  If you are not properly prepared, you will be sent home!
